Rudolf Wolf is the designer of this minimalistic armchair and like Friso Kramer and Wim Rietveld one of the important Industrial designers from the Netherlands. His studie in architectural and graphic design, brought him to the lighting division of Philips. In 1948 he startet working for Elsrijk. Rudolf Wolf designed furniture for 15 years, after that he became an artist, making paintings and sculptures in steel, aluminium and plexiglass.
In 1955 Rudolf Wolf designed minimalistic metal furniture pieces for Elsrijk. This chair is an excellent example from this period. Minimal steel rod frame, bakelite arm-rests and a fabric covered wooden seat and back. This chair has minor wear to the frame and is in new fabric reupholstered.
